| Body can be divided into 3 types of planes: | Sagittal, Frontal (Coronal), Transverse

| Sagittal/Midsagittal Plane | lengthwise plane running from front to back; if it runs exactly in midline, results in equal & symmetrical left/right halves.

| Coronal/Frontal Plane | lengthwise plane running from side to side; divides body into anterior and posterior portions.

||||
| Transverse/Horizontal Plane | crosswise plane; divides body into upper/lower parts.
