William the Conquerer   Invaded England in september 1066. He argued that he had a claim tot the throne because Edward (the king) had promised him it and Harold had promised to support that claim.

The Battle of Hastings   The Battle of Hastings took place on the 14th of October 1066. It was between William the Conquerer and King Harold 2. Harold is killed buy an arrow to the eye (according to legend) and William wins.

King Edward   King Edward the Confessor was the childless cousin of William the Bastard (later William the Conquerer) and in 1055 promised William the throne (according to norman historians)

The Will   On his deathbed, Edward named Harold Godwine, head of the leading noble family in England and more powerful than the king himself, to be his successor.

Start of the Norman rein   William was crowned King of England on Christmas Day 1066. So died the Anlo-Saxon rein of England. William left the kingdom do his son, William Rufus.
