Question
Answer
Interphase   Not a step of mitosis, 90% of the cell cycle when the cell is praparing for mitosis. The DNA is being replicated in the nucleus.
🗑
Prophase   The first sign of chromatin condensation. The nuclear membrane begins to disappear, the nucleoli disappear, and the spindle apparatus forms with the help of centrioles.
🗑
Metaphase   The choramtids align in the center of the cell. The nuclear membrane is absent, spindle fibers pull chromatids in opposite directions. Chromosomes line up at the equator.
🗑
Anaphase   Daughter chromosomes are being pulled towards opposite poles. The daughter chromosomes move away from each other and some spindle fibers lengthen and push poles apart.
🗑
Telophase   The process of cytokinesis is first evident by appearance of the cleavage durrow. The chromosomes decondence and detach from spindle fibers. The nucleoli reappear and cytokinesis beings.
🗑
Daughter cells   The process of cytokinesis is complete. There are now 2 separate cells.
