Why were the freed slaves made to live outside the city? To act as a buffer between the English/Indians and the Dutch

Where was the original Jersey? an island in the English Channel where Carteret was governor
What did Carteret and Berkeley promise settlers who came to their colony? cheap land, freedom of worship, and a measure of self-government
