convention A meeting or gathering
compromise The settlement of differences by arbitration or by consent reached by mutual concessions.
delegate a person authorized to act as representative for another; a deputy. a representative at a conference, etc.
representative One who may speak for another in a particular capacity, especially in negotiation.
bicameral Having, or pertaining to, two separate legislative chambers or houses.
unicameral Of, or having a single legislative chamber.
separation of powers the principle or system of vesting in separate branches the executive, legislative, and judicial powers of a government.
checks and balances A system for multiple parties wherein each has some control over the actions of each of the others.
legislative That branch of government which is responsible for making, or having the power to make, a law or laws.
executive A title of a chief officer or administrator, especially one who can make significant decisions on her/his own authority
judicial That branch of government which is responsible for maintaining the courts of law and for the administration of justice.
amendment An alteration or change for the better; correction of a fault or of faults; reformation of life by quitting vices.
