What happened to Abraham Lincoln? He was shot and killed (assassinated)
***What speech is this quote from, "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here" The Gettysburg Address. It reminded people that we were one nation worth fighting for.
What did William Sherman do? He marched through Georgia burning everything in sight.
***What did the Freedmen's Bureau do and who vetoed it? The Freedman's Bureau was set up to help the FREED slave find work, get food and an education. Andrew Johnson, the new President, vetoed it.
Who was Andrew Johnson? He was the President after Abraham Lincoln.
What is Reconstruction? This is the period when the U.S. began to rebuild after the Civil War.
