| Tenochtitlan | A great city the Aztecs built in Mexico. The place where they saw the Eagle with a snake in it's beak on a cactus. |

| Tribute | payment demanded by rulers from the people they rule. The Aztecs forced people they conquered to pay these. |
| Slavery | the practice of holding people against their will and taking away their freedom. |
| Aztec Empire | They conquered people from the Atlantic to teh Pacific oceans. They required the people they conquered to pay them tribute and enslaved them. They Sacrificed people to their Gods. Great farmers. |
| Cuzco | in present-day Peru. The Inca capital city. |
| Inca Empire | In South America, created thier empire through conquests. Built thousands of miles of roads to link their empire to their capital city. They had the fastest communication system anywhere in the world at the time. |
