World War I General Vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
Alliance An agreement to help another country.Cen
Central Powers An alliance of Austria-Hungry, Germany, and the Ottoman Empire.
Neutral Refusing to take sides during a war.
Militarism Belief that a nation needs a large military. / Building up a military. (military- people who fight for their country)
Propaganda Using the media (posters, radio, television) to support an opinion and convince people to believe something.
President Woodrow Wilson President during WWI. He wrote the Fourteen Point peace plan.
Treaty of Versailles The agreement that ended WWI and blamed Germany for the war. This eventually became the cause of WWII.
Nationalism Pride in one's nation (country).
Allied Powers An alliance of Russia, Serbia, England, France and the United States.
Trench Warfare A strategy used during WWI where troops crowded together in the bottom of large ditches and shot with artillery and machine guns at the enemy.
