Speaker of the House An office mandated by the Constitution. is chosen to practice by majority party has both formal and informal owers and is second in line to succeed the presidency
Majority leader The principal ally of the speaker responsible for scheduling bills, influencing comitee assignments
Minority leader principal leader of the minority party
whips Party leaders who work with majority or minority leaders
bill A proposed law, drafted in precise legal language.
filibuster A srategy unique to the senate where opponents of a bill try to talk it to death.
