Where was Vietnam divided and who controlled what side? Along the 17th parallel and Ho Chi Minh controlled the North, and Diem controlled the south.
Which side was the US on, the North or South? The South.
Who was assasinated in Nov. of 1963? Diem & his brother and President Kennedy
What was the Domino Theory? A theory that suggested that if one country turned Communist, all the neighboring countries would as well.
What was the ground war? There were no real goals, and was the first war shown on TV.
The Viet Cong sent supplies over..? The Ho Chi Minh Trail.
What was the tet offensive? The North Vietnamese army & the Viet Cong attacked the South and the US & ARVN took over and the Viet Cong was destroyed as well as the Northern army was debilitated.
What was the arrangement to make ends meet called/ Ceasefire
What is the 26th Amendment? The voting age goes from 21...18
What was the war powers act? This limited the presidents ability to send troops to war without the consent of the congress...
What was Indochina made up of? Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia
What was the Cuban Missle Crisis? Confrontation between the US and the Soviet Union after the Soviet nucleur missles in Cuba
Who were the Viet Cong> South vietnamese who wanted the country to be a whole again!
Who were the guerrilias? Fighters who weakened there enemy by surprise attacks
What was the Gulf of Tonkin resolution? Gave president johnson the power to use military force in vietnam
What is escalation? Process of increasing military involvmenent
What was naplam? Gasoline that burns violently: used as a weapon and to destroy crops.
What were doves? People who opposed the Vietnam war
What were hawks? People who supported the Vietnam war
What was Vietnamization? Strategy for withdrawing troops and turning the ground fighting over to the south vietnamese
What President made Vietnamization? Nixon
