Different viral genomes and mode of translation

dsDNA uses RNA polymerase (like normal) Ex: herpes, papilloma
ssDNA Produces complimentary DNA then proceeds as normal. EX: parvovirus
dsRNA + strand translates proteins, -strand creates + strand Ex: Reovirus
Positive sense RNA Translates proteins and creates negative sense strand to make more positive sense
Positive sense RNA retrovirus Create DNA from RNA via reverse transcriptase Ex: HIV
Negative sense RNA Uses RNA-dependent RNA transcriptase to make positive sense RNA EX: rabies, influenza
