Viral Genomes
Different viral genomes and mode of translation
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| dsDNA | uses RNA polymerase (like normal) Ex: herpes, papilloma |
| ssDNA | Produces complimentary DNA then proceeds as normal. EX: parvovirus |
| dsRNA | + strand translates proteins, -strand creates + strand Ex: Reovirus |
| Positive sense RNA | Translates proteins and creates negative sense strand to make more positive sense |
| Positive sense RNA retrovirus | Create DNA from RNA via reverse transcriptase Ex: HIV |
| Negative sense RNA | Uses RNA-dependent RNA transcriptase to make positive sense RNA EX: rabies, influenza |
