Also wanted to seize oil producing colonies in Southeast Asia remember we put an oil embargo on them, so they need oil from other places.   Most of the oil was in Indonesia U.S. possession of the Philippines are in the way of Japan getting to Indonesia

japan's carrier damage in coral reef? -Not only did we stop them but we sunk one aircraft carrier and damage the othertwo, so they had to go back to Japan for repairs- incapacitated all 3 of their carriers

USS Missouri. what when? G. V-J(victory over japan) Day (Sept. 2, 1945). 1. USS Missouri - Ship that the japanese officially surrendered to us. President Clinton changed the name from V-J day to V-P (victory in the pacific) bc it was more "politically correct"
