The great awakening

What was The Great Awakening? A spiritual revival that swept through the colonies between 1730 and 1760.
Although most colonist attended church,They still needed a revival.Why? Because they thought you had to be a good person for God to make you a christian.
Who was Jonathan Edwards? Jonathan Edwards was one of the first leaders in The Great Awakening.
What happened to make Jonathan a changed person? He accepted Christ as his personal savior.
What was another name for puritan churches? Congregational church.
Why did Jonathan Edwards move to the frontier? Because the Massachusetts government would not let him preach at their church.
Jonathan Edwards became president of what university just before his death? Princeton University.
What church did John Wesley start? Methodist Church
Who was the mother of John and Charles Wesley? Sussana
Where did John and Charles Wesley go to college? Oxford University
Why was John Wesley's first trip to America unsuccessful? Because he had not accepted Christ as his personal savior.
How many times did George Whitefield come to America to preach the gospel? Seven
Why did George Whitefield preach outdoors? The Anglicans would not let him preach in their churches.
Who was Whitefield's famous American friend? Benjamin Franklin
What young missionary gave his life to take the gospel to the Indians? David Brainerd
Who was Tattamy? Tattamy was an Indian who translated David Brainerd's words into the Indian's language.
In whose home did David Brainerd die? Jonathan Edward's
How did the Great Awakening affect America? It brought the country close together so we would truly be one nation under God
Who pastored a church in Middleborough, Massachusetts, for fifty-eight years and also worked to make America a free country? Isaac Backus
Why did John Wesley start preaching in the open air? The ministers in the Church of England did not want him to preach in their church.
