what happens when germans take over france? called? When Germans take over France, they split it into 2 parts. Occupied Zone: HAve to let germans occupy Northern/western France Vichy France: Germans don't occupy this part of France
Vichy France? Called this bc the new French capitol and government move here. Most French accepted the defeat (defeated within 6 weeks of the war) Very strong german supporter! France out of the picture as being an ally. Not our friend!
Free french Free French =Chunks of the french that escape to great Britain and fight along with the allies. don't agree with their countries
Africa contolled by? eygpt, lybia, axis, north africa Spot we first get involved! Huge part of north africa was controlled by Vichy France Libya was controlled by the Italian Empire. 2/3 controlled by axis Egypt controlled by Britain - only NA part thats controlled by allies
reason britian took eygpyt? axis mind though? british trade lifeline? heart of British trade comes from India. Come in and make the suez canal (lifeline of British) to get through. Axis1941 axis decided to attack Egypt and take it over. Kill the British economy. THEN you can now move into middle east and take the oil.
what happens when germany and italy attack egypt? German and Italy attack egypt; then we enter the war and Churchill is happy.
Who did Hitler sign up as part of the axis? why do they agree? By the summer of 1941, HItler signed up 3 eastern countries to become part of the axis: Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria They fear Communist Russia more than they fear Fascist Germany, thats why they pair up with them
Hitle/ yugoslavia/greece/lebenzraum take them over bc they wouldn't let them pass through to get to greece. The reason for obtaining all these little countries, is to get through to Greece "Living Room" - Hitler wanted to get and obtain Russia to spread the German race

largest engagment that US was involved in in Europe? Bastonge. One of the reasons we won that the germans gave up, another reason is bc it was overcast during the bulge. After a week the weather clears up and US Air force able to blow everything up.
