GMT - ( Greenwich Mean time) is a time system originally referring to mean solar time at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich , London. Known as global time standard.
Archipelago - is an island group. A chain of islands.
Civilization - the material and instrumental side of human cultures that are complex in terms of technology, since and division of labor.
Greenwich,England - is a district in south London. Greenwich is giving name to Greenwich Meridian ( 0' longitude) and GMT
Topographical map - is type of map characterized by large-scale detail and quantitative representation of relief.
Relief map - A map indicating hills and valleys by shading rather than by contour lines alone.
GPS - ( Global positioning system) is space based satelline navigation system that provides location and time information anywhere on Earth.
Delta - A triangular tract of sediment deposited at the mouth of a river.
Contiguous - Sharing a common border; touching.
Geography - the science dealing with the areal differentiation of the earth's surface, as shown in the character, arrangement, and interrelations over the world of such elements as climate, elevation, soil, vegetation etc.
Isthmus - a narrow strip of land, bordered on both sides by water, connecting two larger bodies of land.
Latitude - the angular distance north or south from the equator of a point on the earth's surface, measured on the meridian of the point.
Longitude - angular distance east or west on the earth's surface, measured by the angle contained between the meridian of a particular place and some prime meridian, as that of Greenwich, England.
Mouth of river - is a part of a stream where it flows into another stream, river, lake, reservoir, sea, or ocean.
Navigation - the art or science of plotting, ascertaining, or directing the course of a ship, aircraft, or guided missile.
Peninsula - an area of land almost completely surrounded by water except for an isthmus connecting it with the mainland.
Physical map - type of map that indicate the location of landforms like deserts, mountains and plains.
Region - an extensive, continuous part of a surface, space, or body: a region of the earth.
Political map - maps that designed to show governmental boundaries of countries, states, and counties, the location of major cities, and they usually include significant bodies of water.
Prime Meridian - (Greenwich Meridian)is the meridian (line of longitude) at which the longitude is defined to be 0°
Source of a river - is the place from which the water in the river or stream originates.
Strait - a narrow passage of water connecting two large bodies of water.
Standard time zone - 15 degree areas of longitude equal to one hour and designated as a number of hours either earlier or later than Greenwich Mean Time.
Mercator map - the standard map projection for nautical purposes because of its ability to represent lines of constant course, known as rhumb lines or loxodromes, as straight segments.
