What are cells? Basic units of structure in living things.
What do cells do? They carry out the basic processes and functions of a living thing.
What is the importance in the build of the cells in an organism? How they are put together determines how an organism functions.
What are the functions of a cell Getting oxygen, getting rid of waste, obtaining food, absorbing nutrients and growing.
Tiny structures inside cells that carry out specific functions. Organelles
Found in plants only, a rigid layer of nonliving material that protects & supports the cell. It is mostly made of celluose Cell wall- Which is once again ONLY FOUND IN PLANTS
The layer of the cell found AFTER the cell wall in plant cells. It can be found in all cells Cell membrane
The brain of the cell. Nucleus
Part of the nucleus that makes ribosomes. Nucleolus
Organelles in the nucleus that make chemicals called proteins. Ribosomes
The soft gel like material in the cell Cytoplasm
Organelles that transfer energy from food into energy for cells to use. Mitochondria
Carries materials from one part of the cell to the other. Endoplasmic reticulum
An organelle that recieves proteins and sends them to a different part of the cell Golgi body
