OGT key words for english/reading

QuestionAnswer
Analyze Look at the parts of something so that you can figure out what makes the whole.
Compare Show how things are similar.
Contrast Show how things are different.
Describe Paint a picture in the reader's mind by using the 5 senses.
Evaluate Form an idea for the worth of something, to give the pluses(pros) and minuses(cons) backed up with examples.
Explain Make clear by using cause and effect or step by step processes.
Formulate Create a thought or idea based on review of information.
Infer Think beyond what is directly stated.
Predict Make a statement about what is to come.
Summarize Restate main points of what has been said.
Support Show eveidence to back a conclusion or argument.
Trace Describe a path or sequence.
