QuestionAnswer
Established Church The official church of a country.
Mayflower Compact A document written by the Pilgrims establishing themselves as a political society and setting guidelines for self-government.
Persecution Mistreatment Because of beliefs or practices.
Migration The movement of people from one region to another.
Religious Tolerance Respecting and allowing different religions.
Precedent An action or decision that later serves a an example.
Town Meeting A political meeting at which people make decisions on local issues; used primarily in New England.
Separatists Protestants who wanted to break away from the church of England.
Pilgrims (Saints) One Separatist group that left England in the early 1600's to escape persecution.
Immigrants People who have left the country of their birth to live in another country.
Puritan A Protestant group that wanted to purify, or reform, the Angelic Church.
Dissenter People who disagree with official opinions.
