Define: Constitution A set of customs, traditions, rules, and laws that set a way Government is organized
Define: Bill of Rights It's the first 10 amendmants to the U.S. Constitution
Define: Amendmant An amndmant is an addition or change in the U.S. Constitution
1st Amendmant Freedom of speech, religion, press, and right to petition the Government Ex. The government says that the USA is only going to be able to belive in one religion. Thats against Freedom of Religion
2nd Amendmant The right to bear arms Ex. A Police Officer knocks on John's door and confiscates his gun because the PO didn't like it
3rd Amendmant The government can't force you to shelter soldiers in your home without your consent in time of war or peace Ex. During The American Revolution the Government was allowed to house soldiers in rendom houses and make the owners take care of them
4th Amendmant The right against inreasonable search and seizures of a persons property Ex. A woman is walking down Main St. and a Police Officer asks to search her because she looks a robber.
5th Amendmant Can't try a person more than once for the same crime, cannot take a persons life, liberty, or property without good reason Ex. Jose is tried for murder and is not found guilty, the Gov. tries to try him again for the same crime later on.
6th Amendmant Right to a free trial. A speedy and public trial. Ex. The person has the right to a free trial with a State Judge in court.
7th Amendmant A right to trial with Jury Ex. JohnJacobJames has the right to a Jury during his trial or the Government is violating this Amendmant
8th Amendmant Fair bail and punishments,a person charged with a crime has a right to a fair fine. There cannot be any cruel or unusual punishment Kate steals $5 worth of candy from the store, the Judge can't give unsual punishment like putting her to Life sentence
