What are the five components of the first ammendment? Freedom of speech Freedom of religion Freedom of press Right to peacefully assemble and protest Right to petition the government
What are the two clauses in the freedom of religion? free excersise clause. Establishment clause.
What is the free excersise clause? You may worship whatever deity you so desire and do so in whatever way you choose, so long as you do not harm others/break laws.
What is the Establishment clause? The government may not make laws promoting one religion over another.
What is the second ammendment? It is the right to bear arms/ordinary weapons.
3rd ammendment? No house soldiers - the government cannot force you to house soldiers.
4th ammendment? no unreasonable searches or seizures of property or persons.
What is "the press?" it is the media, news stations, etc.
Were the police violating the 1rst ammendment when they kept newscasters away from the raid on Zucotti's park? Yes, probably
5th ammendment: Your right to due processes of law: no "double jeopardy," you cannot be tried for the same crime twice. no self incrimination not taking life, liberty, or property without reason. no taking property without payment.
Can the government forcefully take away land? Yes, if they pay fair market value in money for the land.
6th ammendment: Right to speedy, public trial. Right to jury trial in criminal cases you must be told what you are accused of. You can face the accusers. You may acll witnesses for your benifet. You have right to an attorney.
8th ammendment: No unreasonable punishment or excessive bail.
