What is colonial legacy? The desire for modern technology and the same standard of living the European enjoyed
What is secede? To break away
What is Mobutu sese seko? A dictator
What is Democratization? Accepting many different political parties
What is socialism? The government owns and operates major businesses and control other parts of the economy
What is multinational corporation? Huge enterprises with branches in many countries
What is economic dependence? Major goal of African nations in reducing economic dependence
What is westernization? Urge Africans to perserve traditional values of family and group loyalty
What is ethnicity? Attachment to one's own ethnic group and regional loyalties
