HEENT eye drops

| Wash hands with soap and warm water and dry thoroughly. | |
| If a suspension, shake container prior to use | |
| Tilt head back and look up and away, towards the ceiling | |
| Draw lower eyelid of the affected eye down and away from eyeball to form a pocket | |
| Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye or surrounding skin and be sure to clean the dropper before storing if it does become contaminated | |
| Instill one drop into pocket formed in step 4 | |
| close eye for 1 to 2 minutes and do not blink or rub eye | |
| Apply gentle pressure with an index finger to the nasal-lacrimal sac (tear duct) of the affected eye to help reduce leakage of the medication | |
| If multiple drops are prescribed, wait 3-5 minutes between drops and repeat steps 2-8 | shake, tilt head, form pocket, dont touch dropper, instill drop, close eye, pressure on duct |
| Wipe area around the eye(s) if medication leaks onto surrounding skin and wash hands with soap and warm water when finished |
