HEENT ear drops

QuestionAnswer
Medication should be at room temperature or slightly warmer prior to dosing warm using hands or body heat if necessary
Wash hands with soap and warm water and dry thoroughly
Lie on side with affected ear facing towards the ceiling
If a suspension, shake container before use
Hold ear lobe and pull backward and upward to straighten the ear canal for an adult backward and downward for an infant/child
place prescribed number of drops into affected ear while avoiding touching dropper tip to ear
remain on side for approx 3-5 minutes
place a piece of clean cotton into the affected ear to avoid leakage
Repeat 5-8 with opposite ear if necessary hold ear and pull back/up(down), place drops in ear, dont touch it to your ear, stay on side 3-5 mins
Wash hands with soap and warm water when finished
