What brought problems in the 1960s and what problems? Many countries gained independence. Many countries have ethnic conflicts.
Who was in control in the 1880s? Britian and some other powerful Europeans
What religion believes that there are spirits in the natural world? Animists
What did European powers do to Africa? Dominated many African areas, divided much of Africa up, and seperated many ethnic groups. Used imperialism.
Where was and is Christianity found? Found in Ethiopia mostly today. First introduced to Ethiopia and then spread to Nubia.
What did Arabs-Arabics- bring over tp East Africa? Formed a new culture and language- Swahili
What island became a slave-trading center? Zanzibar
Who did East Africa have conflicts with? Britian and other European powers
What languages are spoken? French and English. African languages including Swahili, Amharic, and Somali.
