Economy The wealth and resources of a colony, the goods and services they use and produce
Import A good brought in to one country from another in order to be sold
Export A good sent out of one country to another in order to be sold
Manufacturing To make or process a raw material into a finished product
Governor The appointed or elected head of a colony or state
Legislature The lawmaking group of a colony, state, or national government
Tyrant A person in authority who bullies the people he/she rules over
Self-government A system of government where the people make their own laws
Self-sufficient The ability to provide for or support yourself
Indigo A plant from which blue dye is made
Plantation A huge self-sufficient farm
Broker A person who is paid to buy and sell goods for someone else
Coureurs de bois French "runners of the woods" who traded with natives for fur pelts then sold them to trading companies
