Width in attack | This ensures that the players use the full width of the playing area to help create effective tactics. |
Depth in attack | This ensures that the attacking players are supported by team mates. It helps retain possesion. For example by enabling the furthest forward attackers to pass backwards to midfield players. |
Width in defence | This ensures that players cover the full width of the playing area to help limit effective attacks. |
Depth in defence | This ensures players are supported by team mates. It helps secure possesion, for example if one defender is passed by an attacker, the next defender may be able to secure possesion. |
Delay in defence | This is when you slow down attackers by 'backing away' from them. This delays attackers from getting past you. |
