QuestionAnswer
What was the French and Indian War? What happened during the war? A 7 year war between the Britsh vs the French and Indians. During the war, the British gained control of Canada and they obtained Florida from the Spanish.
What was the Proclamation of 1763? What did the colonists think about it? Law that stated that the colonists could not settle West of the Appalahcian Mts. The colonists thought they deserved the land after helping the Britsh fight in the F&I war, so they ignored it and settled West anyway.
What was the Sugar Act? What did the colonists think about it? Tax on sugar and molasses imported from the West Indies. The colonists thought this was unfair because they used those items in their everyday lives. They also did not want to stop trade with the West Indies They became angry with the new laws.
What was the Stamp Act? What did the colonists think about it? Tax on any type of paper items (stamps, newspapers,dice, lisences,etc) to raise money for the war debts from the F&I War. The coloists thought the law was unresonable because it affected their daily lives.
When were the Liberty Boys and the Sons of Liberty created? After the Stamp Act was passsed.
A group of men and boys who all met in Savannah and tried to come up with ways to get certain laws taken away. (Rebel Group) Liberty Boys
What were the Townshed Acts? What did the colonists do and what happened after that? Tax placed on tea, paper, glass, and coloring for paints. Colonists boycotted the law and the British took all taxes away excpet the tax on tea.
What occured at the Boston Massacre? Harrasment between the British and the colonists got out of hand when snowballs with rocks were thrown, then gunshots began. 5 people were killed in it.
What was the Tea Act of 1773? Colonists could only buy their tea from one comapny ( the East India Company) It also allowed the tea to be shipped directly to the colonies. The colonists saw this as a trick.

Explain what occured in the Boston Tea Party. Patroits dressed up as Mohawk Indians and dumped hundreds of chests of tea into the Boston Harbor.
Explain the intolerable Acts. 1.) They closed the port of Boston. 2.) Colonists had to house and feed a British soldier. 3.) They could not have any town meetings. 4.) They could only have trials in Britain. ***** A list of 4 laws made to punish the colonists of Massachuset
Explain the 1st Continental Congress. Representatives from every state excpet Georgia met in Philidephia to boycott the Britsh trade and the Intoloerable Acts. * They set up a militia for each colony. * They set up the council of safety.
Explain the 2nd Continental Congress. All colonies sent delegates to Philidelphia once again. *They set up a continental army with George Washington as the Commander in Cheif. * They sent the Olive Branch Petition to the King.
This document declared loyalty to the King. It asked him to repeal the Intolerable Acts and to end all the fighting. The King ignnored it. The Olive Branch Petition

What was acomplished in the Georgia Constitution of 1777? * 8 counties were formed. * Formed a unicameral legistlature. Who had the power to appoint the govenor and judges.
Explain the Constitutional Convention of 1787. Every staet but Rhode Island sent delegates to meet in Philidelphia. The origional puropse was to re write the Articles of Confederation.
A peace document after the Revolutionary War. It granted U.S independence. As a part of the agreement, Florida was returned to the Spanish. Treaty of Paris (1787)
A partnership of independent equal states. This was the first constitution. Articles of Confederation.
