| New Jersey Plan | Proposal to create a unicameral government; rejected at constitutional convention. |
| Great Compromise | Agreement worked out at constitutional convention established that a states population would determine representation in the lower house of the legislature, while each state would have equal representation in the upper house of the legislature. |
| 3/5ths Compromise | Agreement at the constitutional convention that slaves would be counted at 3/5ths of a person when determining the states population for the lower house of congress. |
