VocabularyDefinition
division of labor Dividing jobs between men and women in order to produce more through efficiency.
confederation A loose group of governments working together.
longhouse A shelter built by the Iroquois that was long and wooden and could hold up to 50 people.
wampum beads cut out of shells to make beaded designs that showed important decisions and events and was used to trade for goods.
palisade walls of tall wooden poles that were built around a village to protect the tribe from enemies.
wigwam A round bark-covered shelter built to house a few people.
Iroquois League A confereation of different Iroquois Nations that banded together to settle disputes among the people peacefully.
