American Revolution

QuestionAnswer
Triangular Trade A system where godds and slaves were traded between the colonies, Britain, and the West Indies. Shared products between the Three places.
French And Indian War of 1754 A war between England and France. Resulted in England getting all the land west of the Mississippi. Sparked the Proclamation act of 1763.
Proclamation act of 1763 Prevented the colonists from claiming land west of the Mississippi. Colonists became angry because they were the ones who helped fight the French.
Samuel Adams Created the saying "No taxation without representation." One of the founders of the Committee of Correspondence. Which spread ideas of Brittish rule.
Boycott Form of protest where colonists stopped buying English goods to stop paying taxes. England lost a lot of money.
Repeal When a government takes back and act. Parliamnet repealed the Stamp Act.
Boston Massacre 1770 Colonists were taunting Brittish Troops. Troops shot and killed 5 Colonists. The colonists were innocent. Paul Revere made this seem like a massacre.
Boston Tea Party 1773 Sons of Liberty dressed as Native Americans boarded Brittish ships and dumped all the tea into the Boston Harbor. This was a Protest to the Tea Act.
Sons of Liberty Known for tarring and feathering Tax Collecters. They were an undercover group who would protest against Brittish rule.
First Continental Congress 1774 A meeting of colonial delegates in Philidelphia to respond to Brittish Rule. Delegates petitioned King George III listing freedoms They believe colonists should enjoy.
Battle of Lexington-Concord 1775 One of the first Battles of the Revolutionary war. It showed that America wasn't afraid to fight. All Countries knew about America.
Minutemen Volunteer Militia troops that would "respond in a minute." They fought and won the French and Indian war
Second Continental Congress Formed Continental army. Fought against The British in the Revolutionary War.
Battle of Bunker Hill One of the first battles of the Revolutionary War. Colonists ran out of supplies and retreated. Showed that the Colonists were not afraid and had the ability to fight.
Common Sense Pamphlet written by Thomas Paine. Said that Britain was not a good leader for a country.
Thomas Jefferson The main writer of the Declaration of independence. He was the man who had all the ideas for it.
Delcaration of Indepnedence July 4, 1776 Writtin to parliament to declare independence. Gave the people today our rights.
Patriots People loyal to having American Independence. Fought agaisnt Briatain to claim independence
Loyalists People who were Loyal to England. Were against Protests and thought America should stay with England.
People "left out" of the Delcaration of Independence Women and slaves were not included in the Declaration of independence. This defeated the right of all people being created equal.
Who fought (groups) in the American Revolution Slaves and women also fought in the Revolutionary war. Slaves were granted freedom if they fought in the war. Women would secretly fight and take place of men.
Andvantages and disadvantages of Brittish And Colonial Forces. America fought for Independence and got help from Europe. But they were untrained and had a poor navy. The Britts were well trained and had a powerful navy. But they had to sail across an Ocean and used mercenaries as Soldiers.
Battle of Trenton 1776 Colonists took over 900 Hessians captive. One of the first greatest victory for the Colonists
Battle of Saratoga 1777 Turning point of the war. it showed France and Spain that Colonists really could fight in war. France and Spain sided with the Colonists
Battle of Yorktown 1781 It was the last major battle of the Revolution. it pretty much ended the war
Treaty of Paris Great Britain recognized the freedom of America. This is what gives us our freedom from England today.
