The French and Indian War 1754 | tensions between Native Americans&Colonists. Some allied with native americans&traded with them. Colonial militia fought. Fightning ended in 1767. Allied wih iroquis league. Many indians trusted the french more than the english. |
Proclamation Act(line) of 1763 | banned colonists from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains. Also ordered settlers to leave the upper Ohio River valley. Made colonists angry because they wanted to expand into the land they had fought hard to win. |

Common Sense | A 47-page pamphlet written by Thomas Paine that urged seperation from Great Britain. Made a case against tyranny and rallied the colonists for Independence from Britain |
Thomas Jefferson | the main writer of the declaration of independence. wrote about the basic rights of colonists and was a delegate from virginia in the continental congress. |

Patriots | Colonists who chose to fight for independence. Showed that people wanted to independence were willing to fight and lose their lives for it. |
Loyalists | people who remained loyal to Britain sometimes called tories. Showed that even though many wanted independence there were still others who didnt want to revolt or disturb the peace |
People "left out" of the Declaration of Independence | women and africans. when the declaration was written slavery was legal in all 13 colonies. By the 1780s the new england colonies were ending slavery. |
Who fought (groups) in the American Revolution | After the batlle of saratoga, France and Spain joined the Colonial forces cause. Originally the black slave helped the British but the colonists decided to allow african americans to join their side. Indians helped both sides. |

Battle of Yorktown 1781 | was one of the last major battles of the American Revolution. the Prime Minister Lord North recieved word of the surrender and declared "It's all over". Because of the surrender at the battle of yorktown Great Britain entered into peace talks with America |
Treaty of Paris 1783 | In this treaty, Great Birtain recognized the independence of the united states. Set America's borders and a seperate treaty between Britain and Spain returned Florida to the Spanish. The English now recognized America's Independence. |
