Townshend Act A series of laws passed by parliament in 1767 that suspended New Yorks assembly's
Writs of Assistance Search warrant that allowed British officers to enter colonial homes to search for smuggled goods.
Samuel Adams He was the leader of the sons of liberty in Boston.
Boston Massacre In boston 5 civilians were killed by redcoats.
John Adams Important voice of reason.
Committee of correspondence A group of people in the colonies who exchanged letters on colonial affairs
Boston Tea Party The dumping of 342 crates of tea into Boston harbor by colonists in 1773 to protest the tea act
Malitia A force of armed civilians pledged to defend their community during the American Revolution
Minuteman A member of the colonial Malitia who was trained to respond at a minutes warning.
Intolerable act Laws created to punish tho colonists of Boston after the Boston Tea Party.
First continental congress A meeting of delegates in 1774 from all colonies except Georgia to uphold colonial rights.
Paul Revere He was a Boston silversmith and a second messenger
Lexington and Concord Sites in Massachusetts of the first battle of the American Revolution.
Loyalist An American colonist who supported the British in the American Revolution.
Patriot An American colonist who sided with the rebels in the American Revolution.
Ethan Allen He led the great mountain boys.
Artillery A cannon or large gun
Second continental congress In May 1775 delegates agreed to from the continental army
Continental army George Washington was the leading general
Benedict Arnold He was a officer who played a role in the victory of Fort Ticonderoga
Declaration of Independence The document written in 1776, in which the colonies declared independence from Britain.
Thomas Jefferson He signed the Declaration of Independence, very respected.
