What did Colonel Prescott order at Bunker Hill and Why? He ordered them not to fire until they saw the whites of their eyes because the Americans were low on amunition.
Why did some colonist choose to remain loyal to England? What region tended to have the greatest amount of loyalists and why? Some were members of the Anglican Church and others depended on the British for their job. New England had the most loyalists who were dependent on trade.
What actions did the Second Contiental Congress take to begin governing the colonies? Decided to print money and open post office. Set up committees to communicate with the natives.

What advantages did the colonists have going into the war?
What was the British plan for victory, include the 3 prong attack? Separate England and the middle colonies. ? will lead troops south from Canada, Colonel St. Leger will lead troops east from Lake ?,General Howe will move from NY to meet and destroy patriots
Who were our allies, how and why did they provide support? Our allies were the french and Spanish. French worked out trade alliance and sent war supplies, the spanish sent distracted Brits who hated British
How did women contribute to the war effort and what did the war inspire women to ask for? Women fought with the Patriot forces. Many women started their own businesses or took over their husbands businesses. The war inspired women to ask for education and fair treatment in society.
How many African Americans fought for the Patriots and why did they fight? 5000 Fought. Most of them believed in the Patriot cause and needed the money.
Which state never formed a black regiment and why? South Carolina, because they had a large slave population and they feared a revolt. Amunition + slaves = shoot owners
Who were the privateers, and what part did they play in the War for Independence? Privately owned merchant ships stocked with weapons. They attacked and captured British Ships.
What were the terms of the Treaty of Paris? British had to remove all troops from America. Set new borders for the US and Britain, Recognized the US as an independent nation.
Why did the Americans win the war and what lasting impacts has this victory had? The Americans had several advantages. First they fought on their own land, they knew the terrain and where to lay an ambush. We also had help from many other nations.
What lasting impacts did this victory have? Most importantly this battle was not just about war...it was about the patriot's spirit. The victory inspired other nations to fight for independence as well.
