political party an organization of citizens who try to control government by getting their canidate elected to office; citizens with similar political views
nominate to name a canidate to run for public office
canidate the person chosen to run for office
campaign the process of getting a canidate elected to office
platform major issues adapted by a political party
primary election an election which voters select the canidate they want to represent them in an election
elctorate voters
liberal someone who is open to personal individual freedom and is tolerant of other's views
conservative someone who beleives in preserving established traditions amd who resist change.
moderate someone who caans see both sides of an issue and avoid extremes._________
third party minor political parties that do not support the ideas of the main parties in government
mass media forms of communication that transmit information to large numbers of people.(TV, radio, internet, magazine)
propaganda a message that is meant to influence your ideas, opinions, or actions in a certain way. (It could make you like one canidate with out proper research)
bias favoring one point of iew over another. ie: that news saying only the positive about 1 canidate and only the negative about another.
public opinion the total opinions held concerning a particular issue.
Electoral College a group of people who directly vote for the president and the vice prsident.
Interest group organizations of people with common interest who try to inflence government policies and decisions.
lobbyist a person paid to represent an interest group's viewpoint.
Political action committee the political arms of an interest group that collect voluntary contributions from members to fund political canidates and parties the interest group favors.
