| Hawley-Smoot Tariff | Raised prices on foreign imports to such a level that they could not compete in the American market. |
| Bread Line | People lined up for handouts from charities or public agencies. |
| Hooverville | Makeshift shantytowns of tents and shacks built on public or vacant lots. |
| Tenant Farmer | Workers for bigger landowners rather than for themselves. |
| Dust Bowl | Dust storms in the major regions of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, and Colorado. |
