4. Business cycle Theory of the capitalist economy in which a boom in economy is followed by a recession/depression, until it grows again

6. Hawley-Smoot Tariff A tariff that raised prices of foreign imports to such a degree that they could not compete with American goods
7. Bread Line Where people lined up for handouts from charities or public agencies; similar to a 'Soup Line'
8. Hooverville Shantytowns
9. Tenant farmer Farmers that worked for bigger landowners rather than themselves
10.Dust Bowl Large area of the Midwest that had massive amounts of dust storms
11. Okies Refugees of the Dust Bowl
12. Repatriation Attempts from white Americans to coax local governments to try to coerce Mexican Americans to return to Mexico
13. Localism Policy whereby problems could be best solved at state and local levels
14. Reconstruction Finance Corporation Gave loans to businesses and railroads in order to enact a trickle-down economy
15. Trickle-Down Economics Economic belief that giving money to corporations will eventually trickle down to the workers; does not work
16. Hoover Dam Dam built near Las Vegas, NV which provided many jobs and electricity to the west and southwest
17. Bonus Army Group of Veterans from WWI that demanded their Veteran bonuses immediately; eventually sought a compromise before rioting due to the outcome
18.Duglas MacArthur General who forced the Bonus army out of Washington
