| Why did the emancipation proclamation not appply to all states? | if Lincoln would have applied it to the slave states than they would succede from the union. |
| How did war affect life in the north? | it improved and gave them more jobs, in the factory on railroads, and in the mines. |
| How did some respond to the mandatory draft? | the Irish attacked the African Americans. they had a riot in New York city. immigrants didn't care about war. |
