Democracy Is where the people have thes power through system of representation involving elections.
Representation A system for ruling in which the people elect officials to make and administer laws for their country
King George III Was the ruler of Great Britian. He was a hero to all those in Great Britian. To all those people in the colonies, he was evil.
Parliament Is Great Britian's law making body. They taxed the colonies because they saw they were making a lot of money and thought it fair that they shared.
Stamp Act First tax placed on the colonists. The stam act was a tax on all paper goods.
Intolerable Acts Was a punishment put on the colinists because of the "Boston Tea Party"
Townshed Acts These laws placed new taxes on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea.
Tea Act (Boston Tea Party) American colonists saw this law as yet another means of "taxation without representation". This was the situation in Boston that led to the "Boston Tea Party"
Continental Congress Each state sent a representative to the congress. The first continental congress agreed to boycott British Goods.
Declaration Of Independance Describes the people's rights. The second part declares independance from Britian, and lists the colonies issues against the British government.
Thomas Jefferson He helped shape our nation, was the third president, and he was the principal author of the Declaration Of Independence.
George Washington Because he was a great general, he was elected as the first president of the united states. He also was the commander of the continental army.
