Give an example of a linking verb. An example of a linking verb is "Susan is pretty."
Which parts of a sentence have similar names? Subject and subject complement share the same first name.
What do you know about the subject complements? The subject complement is always a noun, pronoun, adjective, or adjective phrase.
Give an example of a subject complement. In the sentence "I feel happy," I is the subject, feel is a linking verb, and happy is a subject complement.
What is a subject? a. The subject is the noun or pronoun that carries out the action. b. If it is followed by a linking verb, it is linked to the subject.
Give an example of a subject. In the sentence "John threw the baseball" John is the subject because he is performing the act of throwing.
What is a direct object? The direct object is the noun or pronoun which is directly receiving the action from the subject.
Give an example of a direct object. In the sentence "John threw the baseball," baseball is the object which is directly receiving the action of being thrown.
