Chapter 3 vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
cultures WAYS OF LIVING of different groups of people. This includes such things as its language, beliefs, tools, types of homes, and ways of working and playing.
cultural regions AREAS of the world where PEOPLE DEVELOP SIMILAR WAYS OF LIFE, or cultures. For examply, native Americans in North Americalived in several culrural regions. The groups within each region had simialr cultures.
artifacts OBJECTS made by groups of humans, such as tolls and clothes. Artifacts help us understand the ways of life of the groups who made them.
nomadic MOVING FROM PLACE TO PLACE, often with changes in the seasons. For example, some Native american groups were nimadic, while others were not.
mesa a flat-topped hil area with steep sides.
gorge a narrow, deep valley with steep sides.
