Russians/HMS Beaver

What happened in the South? Russians became to trade furs.
What did HBC do to prevent the Russians? Made a deal to stop trade at 54-40 and they would use the steamship (Beaver) to supply them with food.
What did Simpson do with the Beaver? Used it as a floating fur trade post.
Who did Simpson anger? McLoughlin the Chief in Factor at Fort Vancouver.
Where did McLoughlin retire? South of the Columbia.
In how long did McLoughlin retire? 2 yrs. (he was also angry about how his son's death was handled)
What was McLoughlin called? "Father of Oregon"
How did McLoughlin get his nick-name? By being kind to American settlers.
