What is insurrection? It is a rebellion against established authority
What is Fort Sumter? It is located in South Carolina, its capture marked the beginning at the civil war.
Who is Henry Clay? He is a senator who proposed the Missouri Compromise.
Who is Alexander H. Stevens? He was the provisional vice-president of the Confederacy.
What is Bleeding Kansas? Is a nickname given to a territory with a penchant for violence.
Who is Stephen Douglas? A senator from Illinois who favored the idea of popular sovereignty.
What is a Line Item Veto? A veto of a portion but not all of a proposed law.
What is popular sovereignty? Control by the people.
Who is Charles Sumner? Is the senator who was brutally beaten for harshly criticizing pro-slavery senators.
What is Richmond, Virginia? The location that became the Confederate capital in May of 1861.
Who is Martin Van Buuren? He was the Free-Soilers candidate for 1848 presidential election.
Who is Jefferson Davis? He was named the provisional president of the Confederacy.
What are Extremist? Is a person whose opinions are very different from those of most people.
Who is Harriet Beecher Stowe? She wrote "Uncle Tom's Cabin" and made an entire country aware of the slavery problem.
What is the Fugitive Slave Law? The law was if a slave were to go to the North they would have to return them to their owners.
