Why did the two colonies want to join in 1866? Financial reasons.
How many members were on there legislative council? 23 members.
Did they have a responsible government? Not until later.
Who wanted to join the Canadian Confederation? Members from the mainland.
Why did they want to join? They thought they would pay for their debt and build a railway.
Why did they want a railway? To boost trade.
What were some in favor of on the island? Of annexation with the US.
What happened in 1868? Governor Seymour died.
Who replaced Seymour? Anthony Musgrave (a friend of MacDonald's).
What did Musgrave organize? For BC and VI reps to go as a delegation.
What happened on July, 20, 1871? There demands were met and they joined.
What number province were they? 6th
