Who was Ulysses S. Grant? The commanding general of the Union and the 18th President of the US
Who was Abraham Lincoln? The president of the US during the Civil War
Who was Jefferson Davis? The president of the Conferate States of America
Why did President Lincoln give his Gettysburg address? To honor the Union soldiers that died at the Battle of Gettysburg
Which two presidents wanted wanted to uphold the federal government? Lincoln and Jackson
What was the act that allowed runaway slaves to be captured and and returned to slavery? The Fugitive Slave Act
What was economy of the South? Agricultural
What was the economy of the North? Industrial
What did the 13th ammendment do? It abolished slavery
What did the 14th ammendment do? It gave civil rights and citizenship
What did the 15th ammendment do? It gave voting rights
The North had: More factories, more railroads, more roads, and seaports, small navy
The South had: Agriculture, few railroads, roads, seaports, and a large Navy
What was the result of the Dred Scott case? Allowed slavery in territories
What was an abolishionist? a person who tries to abolish slavery (ie Harriet Tubman...)
What was Uncle Tom's Cabin? A book wriiten by Harriet Beecher Stow about slavery
