The Monroe Doctrine The Monroe Doctrine was Proclamation in 1823 by President James Monroe.Basically it told European countries to stay out of the Americas & not to become involved in political matters in Central & South America.
Panama Canal .It was started in 1881 by the French,but they abandoned it in 1889.The United States gained construction rights after Panama declared its in 1903,and the canal was opened on August 15,1914.
