US immigration

QuestionAnswer
Why did Jews come to America in the 1800s? They came to escape economic problems.
After 1910 where did most immagrants come from? Southern Europe.
If you had relatives in the US what could they do? Send money to you, and help get you a job and a home.
Why did immagrants have a hard time in America? They were poor, and there were too mant people.
Where did some immagrants come from? Poland, Russia, China,Japan.
Name some problems for the immagrants? They couldn't speak English and they were unskilled.
What did the immagrants bring with them on the trip? They brought Family portraits,valuables, and small amount of money.
In 1882 the Congress passed a law that stated what? Congress passed a law that outlawed Chinese immagration.
In 1917 what did Congress do? Congress voted to require immagrants to pass a reading test.
