US immigration

QuestionAnswer
Why did Jews come to America in the 1900s? They came to escape economic problems.
What advantages did the people have if they had relatives in the US? They would send money, and they would offer to find a good house and job.
Where were the immigrants from before and after 1910? Before 1910, they came from Great Britin in Germany. After 1910, they were from Southern Europe.
What were the two laws Congress had passed? They stopped Chinese immigration, and in 1917 a reading test was given in English to the immigrants.
What was the racism about Japanses? They could not own property.
What did the immigrants bring with them? They brought family portraits,small amount of money, and other valuables.
What are two things about most immigrants? They could not speak English, and they were unskilled.
What were the problems some immigrants faced when they arrived? They were too poor and they lived in over crowded spaces.
