Why did Jews come to America in the 1800's? They came to escape economic problems and persecution.
Where did early immigrants come from and what language did they speak? Earlier immigrants came from Great Britain and Germany, and spoke English.
Where did immigrants settle to live. Immigrants settled in neighborhoods with other people from there home country.
In 1882, what law did congress pass? In 1882 Congress passed a law that stopped Chinese immigration.
In 1917, what law did congress pass? In 1917 Congress voted for a law that sad that all immigrants must pass a reading test?
What was the result of the law that congress passed? The results were that immigration slowed down.
What hardships did immigrants face? They faced being poor and racism.
What did most immigrants live in, and where did most of them live. They lived in tenements, and lived in Boston and New York.
