How did people get to America? They went on boats.
From where did most immigrants come? Southern Europe,Russia,Poland,and Germany.
What are 2 reasons people came to America? Economic,and Political Problems.
What year did most immigrants come to America? 1910.
What items did people bring with them? Precious possessions, family portraits, and small amounts of money.
Where did people live when they came to America? Most lived in overcrowded apartments in NY or Boston.
What language did most early immigrants? English.
Why were the cities really crowded? So many immigrants were coming form Europe.
How did relatives in the US help their families? They sent money,and helped find a place to live.
What language did immigrants speak after 1910? Yiddish and Italian.
What is a apartment block? A apartment in which many families live in.
What did immigrant children suffer from? Racism.
What were Japanese immigrants not allowed to do? Own property.
What kind of neighborhoods were there? Jewish and Italian.
What law did Congress pass in 1882? Chinese immigrants were outlawed.
What kind of test did people have to pass to be let in to America? A reading test.
What is one outcome of the immigration laws? More racism.
Where did early immigrants come from? Great Britain and Germany.
Where did the early immigrants settle? Cities or farm land.
Why were there Political problems? No jobs.
Why were there Economical problems? Dictatorships.
