Immgration to america

QuestionAnswer
From where did most immigrants come? Southern Europe, Russia, Poland and Germany.
Why did the later immigrants come? They came because of Economic problems and because of Political Problems.
How did some immigrants get the money to go to America? It got sent to them by family or friends
Where did they go before they came into America? Ellis Island
What kinds of hardships did the immigrants face when they got here? Being poor, Over crowded apartment blocks.
What was a result of the immigration laws? Immigration to the U.S slowed down.
Why did the U.S Government pass a law that the immigrants had to take a reading test? To slow down immigration.
Why did immigration slow down? Because most immigrants didn't know how to read.
Why did most immigrants stay in NY? Because they didn't have the money to leave.
Why did the immigrants have to go to Ellis island before they go to NY? To get checked for diseases.
Why did people want to take the long and hard journey to America? Because things were really getting out of hand in their home country.
Where did earlier immigrants settle? Farms and cities.
What did they take with them? Portraits,Jewelry, heirlooms.
Why would they leave their home to go to America? Because they Knew America would promise a better life.
What did some immigrants escape from? Dictator ships
